Got another topic idea for you. Now that the Pearl Harbor anniversary is quickly approaching, I thought it might be interesting to talk about the time when there were plans to have Hawaii invaded/overthrown by the Russians only to be rebuffed by King Kamehameha I with the assistance of British & US diplomats back in 1816? It’s the backstory behind Russian Fort Elizabeth at Pāʻulaʻula State Historical Park on Kaua’i.
Dale…I’m going to look into this, I have heard of it, Schäffer Affair (or the Russian-American Company venture) of 1815-1817…Interesting part of History! If it feels, after researching this part of history, like it would be something everyone would enjoy…WE’LL DO IT!
